State museum exhibits piece of DeWitt County

An original painted ceiling tile from the historic DeWitt County Courthouse, built in 1896, has been loaned to the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. The DeWitt County Commissioners Court approved a 10-month loan agreement in late April, with the tile on display from May 1 through January 31, 2027. The tile, valued at $3,000, was discovered hidden in the courthouse attic before its 2007 restoration and is now featured in the museum's Texas Art Gallery as part of an exhibit celebrating Texas courthouse architecture.

SU master’s students present their work at local gallery

Three master’s students from Stellenbosch University—Rebekah Pringle, Thabo Ngwenya, and Emily Fitzgerald—launched an exhibition titled "Matter of Self: Private fragments, public forms" on 7 August at the Gallery University Stellenbosch (GUS). The show is part of a master’s review series that highlights their academic year progress. Pringle’s work explores her domestic experience and caretaker relationship with her grandmother using repurposed furniture; Ngwenya’s pieces address alienation as a Ndebele man in Zimbabwe through pop culture references and self-portraits as "boundary objects"; Fitzgerald’s art challenges patriarchy and heteronormativity using archival photographs, clay, and photolithographic processes.

A REINTERPRETATION OF THE FUENTES ANGARITA COLLECTION AT LA NEOMUDEJAR

Museo La Neomudéjar in Madrid is presenting a major exhibition titled '30 Years of Irreverence and Vision in the Fuentes Angarita Collection.' The show features over 130 works from the collection of Venezuelan artist and collector Andreína Fuentes Angarita, curated by Néstor Prieto and Omar Castañeda. It is structured as a living archive, mapping three decades of Latin American political art through four thematic stations: the collective self, diaspora, identity and gender, and the memory of the body.
