'I want to show the real deal': property developer Rajan Bijlani on his Modernist design collection

Property developer Rajan Bijlani, based in north London, has turned his home Fonthill Pottery—formerly the residence and studio of ceramicist Emmanuel Cooper—into a showcase for his collection of 20th-century design, sculpture, and paintings. His focus is Modernist furniture, particularly works by Pierre Jeanneret, one of the architects of Chandigarh, India. Bijlani owns over 500 pieces, including Jeanneret's 1960 Dining Table and Easy Chairs (1956), as well as works by Le Corbusier and George Nakashima. He staged his first home exhibition last year featuring South Asian diaspora artists, and this year presents 'Electric Kiln,' pairing Jeanneret and Le Corbusier pieces with works by Cooper, Lucie Rie, and Frank Auerbach. Some works are for sale to fund future shows, including a Japan-themed exhibition and one timed to London Gallery Weekend.

Italian artist Cristian Chironi has opened the seventh chapter of his ongoing project "My house is a Le Corbusier" with an exhibition in Tunis titled "My house is a Le Corbusier (Villa Baizeau)". The project centers on Villa Baizeau, a Le Corbusier-designed house built between 1928 and 1930 for industrialist Lucien Baizeau, which is now inaccessible inside the Tunisian presidential park. Chironi, inspired by a failed attempt by artist Costantino Nivola to bring Le Corbusier's architecture to his hometown Orani, instead travels the world temporarily inhabiting Le Corbusier's buildings. For this iteration, he set up a residency at La Boîte – Centre d'Art & d'Architecture in the Medina of Tunis from January 22 to April 5, 2026, culminating in an exhibition that opened April 3, 2026, using the villa as a lens to read the city rather than a physical space to occupy.

Multifaceted artist Poonam Arora has launched a new art studio called 'Studio Art Life' in Chandigarh's NAC, Manimajra market. The space debuted with a multi-artist exhibition featuring works by fourteen artists, including paintings in watercolor, oil, and acrylic, as well as sculptures and decoupage pieces. The exhibition runs through November 2, 2025.

Multifaceted artist Poonam Arora has established a new art studio called 'Studio Art Life' in NAC, Manimajra, Chandigarh, to support both emerging and established artists. The studio opened with a multi-artist exhibition featuring 14 artists, 22 paintings, three sculptures, and a collection of decoupage artworks, running from October 30 to November 2, 2025. Arora, who previously struggled to find exhibition spaces as a solo artist, aims to provide a collaborative platform for artists to create, exhibit, and connect.
