Un’isoletta tutta dedicata all’arte nel mezzo della Laguna di Venezia. Va avanti il progetto della Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo sull’Isola di San Giacomo

The Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo has opened a new art space on the island of San Giacomo in the northern Venetian lagoon, acquired in 2018 by Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Agostino Re Rebaudengo. The island, previously abandoned, has been transformed into a laboratory for art and sustainability, with a gradual opening plan that initially aligns with the Venice Biennale. The inaugural program launched on May 7, 2026, includes a solo exhibition by Matt Copson curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, a group show titled 'Don’t have hope, be hope!', and a photographic documentation of the restoration process by Giovanna Silva and Antonio Fortugno.

Venice, the island of San Giacomo becomes the new home of the Sandretto Foundation

Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo opens a new headquarters on the island of San Giacomo in the northern lagoon of Venice on May 7, 2026. The project combines contemporary art, historic rehabilitation, environmental sustainability, and research, featuring exhibitions, permanent installations, and public programs. The island was purchased in 2018 by Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Agostino Re Rebaudengo from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and transformed into a center for cultural production and ecological experimentation, with free admission and universal accessibility.

taipei dangdai nixes 2026 edition 2669806

Taipei Dangdai Art and Ideas, the annual art fair in Taiwan's capital, will not hold its 2026 edition as organizers pause to conduct a strategic evaluation of the fair's model, timing, scale, and format. The decision follows a prolonged contraction in the art market and comes days after the Art Dealers Association of America canceled its long-running Art Show in New York. The fair, which first launched in 2019 and held its sixth edition in May, had seen its exhibitor numbers decline from over 90 to around 50 this year. Co-director Robin Peckham left after the 2025 edition, and the fair's parent organization, the Art Assembly, has removed material about previous editions from its website, with its Instagram account apparently disabled.
