Reinhard Voigt, a German artist little known to the public, painted grid-based pictures as early as 1968—years before pixels became ubiquitous in daily life. Despite early discouragement from Gerhard Richter and fellow artist Alan Jones, Voigt persisted, creating meticulous works on paper and canvas using transparent paper, rulers, pencil, and oil paint. His first major exhibition, "Pure Pleasure," took place in 2023/2024 in Nuremberg, and his current duo show "High on Low" with Anna-Sophie Berger is on view at Berlin's Kunstraum Grotto, featuring his Word Paintings series. Voigt lives and works in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg with his wife, artist Susan Elias.
French artist François Boisrond, a key figure of the 1980s Figuration libre movement, presents his new series "Ouvrages d'art" at Galerie Maïa Muller in Paris. The series reinterprets monumental architecture—including the Millau Viaduct, the Pont de Normandie, Mont Saint-Michel, Notre-Dame, and the Eiffel Tower—using drone-sourced images. A posthumous exhibition titled "Remembrance: A Tribute to the Work of Dinh Q. Lê" is on view at 10 Chancery Lane in Hong Kong from March 20 to May 23, 2026. CLOSE Gallery in Somerset presents 'Many Worlds, One Mind', a major survey exhibition of contemporary multi-media artist Gordon Cheung, running from 6 June to 15 August 2026. Artist Yeesookyung, known for her "Translated Vase" series that repairs broken ceramics with gold, has created new AI-driven video works for the exhibition "Fail Better," jointly held at Forum & Space in Seoul and Vido Gallery in Jeju through June 13. The two-person show, curated by Kim Yoon-kyung, also features media artist Yangachi and includes works like "Moonlight Crown," which uses real-time GPS and weather data to generate ever-changing forms, and "Oh, Rose!," a digitally bred rose series produced through an AI generative system.
Korean artist Hong Seung-hye opens her first solo exhibition in three years, titled "On the Move," at Kukje Gallery Busan. The Museum of Art + Light (MoA+L) in Manhattan, Kansas, will host the U.S. debut of "Picasso: Art in Motion," a landmark immersive exhibition exploring Pablo Picasso's life and work, opening May 3, 2026.
