The Danish Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale presents "Things to Come," a project by artist Maja Malou Lyse (b. 1993, Denmark), curated by Chus Martínez. The installation combines a three-channel video developed with DIS, materials from Cryos (the world's largest sperm bank), and performers from the porn industry, embedding them within the pavilion's architecture to explore the convergence of pornography, biotechnology, desire, and visual culture as a single system of imaginary production.
This matters because Lyse's work directly engages with the infrastructure of the porn industry and biotechnology, bringing together porn stars and sperm bank scientists within the institutional space of a national pavilion at one of the world's most prestigious art events. By contrasting the Biennale's million visitors over seven months with Pornhub's audience in twelve minutes, the project challenges traditional boundaries of visibility, art, and the politics of the body, positioning the pavilion as a site where disparate worlds collide and provoke new discourse.
