Trent’anni della Florence Biennale: annunciato il tema dell’edizione 2027 con la call internazionale per artisti e designer

The Florence Biennale has announced the theme for its 16th edition, scheduled for October 23–31, 2027, at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. Titled "Beyond the Sense of Time. Memory, Caducity and Eternity in Contemporary Art and Design," the edition also marks the event's 30th anniversary, having been founded in 1997. Curated by Giovanni Cordoni, the biennial explores how digital simultaneity transforms our perception of time, inviting artists and designers to reflect on memory, transience, and eternity. A call for international entries is now open across disciplines including painting, sculpture, photography, video art, installation, performance, digital practices, architecture, product design, fashion design, and visual communication.

This edition matters because it not only celebrates three decades of the Florence Biennale but also positions the event as a platform for critical dialogue on time in an age of instant information. By focusing on memory, caducity, and eternity, the biennial challenges contemporary art and design to restore depth to temporal experience, bridging individual and collective histories. The open call reinforces its international scope and interdisciplinary nature, ensuring continued relevance in global contemporary art discourse.
