The Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum has opened in Doha, Qatar, dedicated to the prolific career of the late Indian modernist Maqbool Fida Husain. Commissioned by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and designed by architect Martand Khosla based on a sketch by the artist himself, the 32,300-square-foot blue-mosaiced structure houses 150 works including paintings, films, and sculptures. The museum traces Husain’s journey from the 1950s through his final years in Qatar, highlighting his cross-cultural explorations of faith, science, and history.

This opening marks a significant institutional milestone for South Asian art, cementing Husain’s legacy as a foundational figure of global modernism. The museum's location in Doha reflects the artist's final years in self-imposed exile and underscores the growing cultural ties between India and the Arab world. With Husain’s market value reaching record highs—including a recent $13.8 million auction sale—this dedicated space provides a permanent scholarly and public anchor for one of the 20th century's most influential polymaths.
