Artist Kohei Nawa Brings His Pixelated Menagerie to Los Angeles
Japanese artist Kohei Nawa has opened "Photon Camp," his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, at Pace Gallery. The show features works from his "PixCell" and "Prism" series, including his signature sculptures that encase taxidermied animals and found objects under thousands of transparent spheres. Nawa aims to blur the boundaries between artwork and environment, creating an immersive installation that questions perception in the digital age. The exhibition also reflects on the concept of "drifting objects" in America, overlaying Japanese cultural contexts with the historical backdrop of Los Angeles.
