The Colectivo Los Ingrávidos, an anonymous film collective based in Tehuacán, Mexico, has been named the winner of the 2026 Schering Stiftung Award for Artistic Research. The group will receive a €15,000 prize, a solo exhibition at Berlin's KW Institute of Contemporary Art featuring a newly produced work, and a publication.
The award recognizes the collective's politically charged work, which uses experimental film and video as a tool for rebellion and media critique. Founded during major protests against the Mexican government, their practice deconstructs individual artistic authority and challenges mainstream media ideologies, promoting what they term a "cosmopolitical" and decolonizing approach to the audiovisual.
