Studio B Art Gallery in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, is opening a new exhibition titled 'In Service' on June 26, featuring works by dozens of local artists interpreting the theme of service. The show, curated by gallery director Bob Hakun with juror Robert Louis Williams, runs through August 23 and includes a mural, a display of thank-you notes from the community and Boyertown High School students, and published poetry and prose from area writers. The gallery is also participating in the 'Bells of Boyertown' activity of Freedom Fest, presented by the Boyertown Area Historical Society.
The exhibition matters because it uses art to foster community connection and healing amid social divisiveness, while celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States through recognition of service personnel. Funded by the Marlene L. Driscoll Fund of Berks County Community Foundation, the project encourages acts of kindness and gratitude, demonstrating how local galleries can serve as hubs for civic engagement and collective reflection.
