Art Center Nabi has reopened in a new space in Sagan-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, with a solo exhibition by kinetic installation artist Han Jinsu titled "Ddeum: A Pregnant Pause," running from June 12 to August 1, 2026. The exhibition showcases Han's long-standing exploration of movement, time, chance, and generation through mechanical devices, wires, liquids, and repeatedly moving structures that form an ecosystem-like environment, emphasizing the generative process over finished results.
The exhibition matters because it offers a counterpoint to technology-driven media art that prioritizes speed and efficiency, instead highlighting unpredictable, organic-like movements generated by simple mechanical systems. By focusing on the Korean concept of "ddeum"—a charged pause before transformation—Han Jinsu invites viewers to reconsider the boundary between machine and living organism, order and chaos, and the value of waiting and maturation in an age obsessed with immediate outcomes.
